Our definition of DSD!!

This is a road trip where the couple feels like there he/she owns the road while on road, feels like he/she is a celebrity when in front of media, radio and press, feels like there is no other couple in the world that is having as much fun as they are during the 4-5 days of the drive. In short it is recreational excursion which is not impromptu unlike any other road trip.

Simple fact that it is a n event conducted by Ford is compelling enough reason to be part of this drive – for me Ford was the company I always associated with doing a lot to developing cars for the masses across world. So we thought that the drive would be lot more fun only because Ford is managing the event.

Experience that otherwise will not be part of our life in any way!!

Any middle class couple can afford to plan a vacation any where in India, but one cannot plan for vacation that is well covered by the media and press alike. That is life time experience, where in you get to meet the best dealers in the state and get to know on a high level how a series of events can be planned and managed to make it look like a the most happening thing.

Face book Celebrity!!!

Yes literally this is an event which uses FB to the maximum J We gained instant celebrity status on the already >35K old Figo page. Keeping the group updated on what we are doing and getting updates on what people think we are doing is truly a amazing feeling, that too almost real time. Not only the Figo group especially our family and friends who were all excited to see what all places we are going and kept on posting wishes was really a out of the world state to be in. Thanks to Mark Zukerberg for making FB such an awesome application

The Hospitality of the Dealerships!!!

This was something you well not get to experience even if you are Henry Ford. The warmth that the people showed as if we were the most important people there and getting know each and every minute details of our requirements was very touching. Each and every dealer has a very special way of showing their concern. In Rajkot we got amazing help on getting used to the media and press, besides all the great Gujarati food served by management. In Ahmedabad Radha was totally flattered by the vintage Ford which we got to take imaginary ride with. In Surat we were awestruck by the way we were taken care of as they helped to purchase, bargain sarees for Radha and get to have some mouth watering street food all in a day’s time.

After the week long drive when we were back at home and driving our own Figo we thought that all the drive characteristics are designed to suit the Figo. This is what makes great products, as mentioned our beloved first car Figo is a great car

Ever since Karl Benz built the first automobile in 1885 a number of developments in field followed resulting in around 75 million vehicles being sold across the world..

I started with Kinetic Honda !!

I didn’t own the first automobile I drove – but 90% of the odometer reading shows my miles, my grandfather owned it for over 11 years now, he still drives it, I enjoyed the thrill of moving effortlessly, without even changing the gear and not bothering about the gas it drank (grandpa used to fill the petrol for me)..I loved the way I explored Pune on the 2 wheeler..slowly I started to look at my friends super bikes (even a 100 cc splendor looked sporty to me then)..once I got used to getting the thrill of shifting gears and driving at higher speeds at much better stability than a scooter..I wanted to own a bike..that was my first aspirational automobile…

Being Loyal to Honda (First Mo-bike)

It took me 1.5 years after my post graduation to own a motorcycle…I didn’t have anyother brand in my mind other than a Honda..not because they produce best bikes but only being loyal to them…1 year later I bought a Honda again for my wife..again being loyal..because we enjoyed the quality..

100% of the miles from both of my 2 wheelers are driven in pathetic Bangalore traffic..that made me sick and tired of owning a 2 wheeler..and as miles passed by I thought what have I achieved by being loyal to Honda..nothing..then I realized 7 years of driving Honda was an achievement in itself…now it is time to move on to a 4 wheeler…but which make of four wheeler

I was very new to car terminology..torque turbo lag..RPM..gear shift..smooth clutch..fun to drive..good handling..wheel base..engine spec..etc etc..for me any car looked an utility .. until I started looking to buy one for my family..suddenly VFM (value for money) was the key word for me..I first free zed on my budget..looked around for cars in  the budget..(only a dozen cars fitted in it)…I had a great advantage of being a very novice driver..I only started learning after I booked my vehicle..till then I never sat in driver seat of any car…it took 2 months to own a 4 wheeler after my booking…After a research of 2 weeks me and my wife decided on Swift VDI..I was not 100% convinced on the price of vehicle..only by the performance of the vehicle in the market we had to take the decision (1 out of every 4 cars in that price range was a swift in India)..I was given a 3 month waiting period..which I thought was ridiculous..and then came the Ford Figo .. the coolest car available in market..and again VFM was the best I could find..and the joy of owning a ford as my first car was amazing…it is just 200 KMs old and I am loving it
